Assigning voices to different programs.

I tried to assign two voices to two different programs. For example, one voice to IE and one voice to microsoft word. My problem is the last voice I assign becomes the default for all programs. Does this happen to anyone else when they attempt this?

I don't think you can. Nim, could you tell us how you were trying to change the voice for an application, and I'll tell you why it can't be done <grin>.

Seriously, I would be interested in finding out how you were trying to do it, and maybe some of us can help you figure out how to get it done.

Starting in the program you want to assign a voice for, you hit insert F2. Then C, for configuration manager. Once there hitting the alt key will bring up the toolbar. THe file your in should be a jaws configuration file specific to the program your working in. Next right arrow to user options, then down arrow to say all voices. When you check the check box for use sappy 5 voices the drop down list of voices is displayed. Fix the voices the way you want them then tab to ok and then hit alt f4 and when the dialog box appears say yes to save changes. Once you have all that, then switch to the next program and repeat the steps. My problem is once I have repeated those steps, and I return to the first program, the voice is the last voice I selected and not the original voice for that particular program.

that certainly is creative. Now, I don't know why it doesn't work for you.
